Our Story

At Serotonin, we provide a sanctuary to escape from our fast-paced lives. As optimal health requires a holistic approach, Serotonin integrates both a nourishing Eatery with an Exercise centre. Our ethos is based around eating a plant-based diet to ensure the body, mind, and earth all function at their best.

Our founder Emily sought a place where she could be motivated daily and connect with others looking to live positively. She longed for a no-brainer menu where every dish was nourishing and she didn’t need to narrow it down to a ‘healthy option’. She couldn’t find such a place, so she made one.

The world is shifting. There is a movement growing and Serotonin is at the forefront. Our wellness centre is focused on facilitating those who wish to relearn the importance of health and happiness. Serotonin is a reminder that health and happiness are achievable with a little effort.

Founder

Emily Hazell | HEAD SEROTONIN DEALER

Emily Hazell is the founder and owner of Serotonin Eatery, Exercise + Education. She is also an interior architect and graphic designer. She opened her Happiness Centre with a vision of changing minds and lives with mental health education and awareness. She hopes for Serotonin to become a leading facility in happiness and health education. She has a passion for living and promoting a plant-based lifestyle through her Happiness Centre.

Emily is the visionary behind Serotonin Eatery, Exercise + Education and she designed Serotonin to be a sanctuary to escape from our fast-paced lives. As optimal health requires a holistic approach, Serotonin integrates both a nourishing Eatery with an Exercise centre. The ethos is based around eating a plant-based diet to ensure the body, mind and earth all function at their best.

GENERAL MANAGER

Ingrid

Ingrid is our amazing General Manager. She brings so much warmth, love & positivity to our happiness center. Originally from Paris, she brings a flair of european hospitality to Serotonin fused with a good positive australian attitude. She is a strong believer that happiness is all relative and you cannot depend on anyone else for your happiness. Her favourite dishes is the Love Bomb paired with our iced choc mint!

BAR MANAGER

RORY

Rory is our incredibly talented bar manager and barista extraordinaire! Originally from Albury where he was in a band, Rory brings a creative flair and love for coffee to the bar at Serotonin. He enjoys working with a fabulous team and is known to indulge in our Positive Pancakes! Rory’s key to happiness is a combination of human connection, self understanding and appreciation!

HEAD CHEF

JOHNNY

Johnny's parents originated from a small village south east of Vietnam, where there was a community of mainly Cambodian people. He grew up eating a variety of different cuisines such as Vietnamese, Cambodian, Chinese and Lebanese. 

His passion for food started when he was a small child. He used to walk around the house and say to his mum “I had no flavor in my mouth”. 

Originally he was going to have a career in multimedia design, but ended up leaving it as he didn’t enjoy it anymore. He became a apprentice Chef in March 2005 and was hooked ever since.

FLOOR MANAGER

GABRIEL

Gabriel is our floor manager from Colombia. One of his many likes is photography and he’s currently having a blast capturing our beautifully created food with his camera. He has a degree in industrial and product design, and is currently undertaking his master degree in design at Swinburne.

Gabriel strongly believes that a positive impact in someone’s day can go further than the moment and that we should all strive to move beyond what is comfortable for us, to inspire joy in others.

His ranking of favorite pet is: 1. Dogs. 2. Horses 3. Cows. As a kid he dreamed of creating a suit that will allowing to pet wild lions and to explore the world. (Patent Pending)

He’s favorite meal are the Tacos, especially in between the burger and glazed with the PB smoothie.
