5 FOODS TO KEEP YOU
GOING THIS WINTER

So there is no doubt that summer is well and truly over here in Melbourne. Winter has arrived which means countless rainy days, AFL season, big coats, Cacao Coconut Lattes, soups, snow trips and open fires. It also means that you are probably more prone to catching a seasonal cold or flu! We have put together a list of foods to keep you healthy this winter!

Sweet Potato

Sweet potato is something I eat almost every day, year round, in hot OR cold weather! It is especially beneficial in the winter thanks to its high vitamin C content and ability to support a healthy immune system. As sweet potatoes are so versatile they can be enjoyed in almost everything from chocolate brownies to curries and soups!

Water

Although you might not be as thirsty in the colder months, your body definitely still needs at least 2 litres of h2o a day, this can also include herbal teas. Try something with added health benefits such as ginger, lemon balm, peppermint or rose.

Seeds

Seeds are small and nutritionally dense – perfect for the colder weather. Sunflower seeds and sesame seeds are considered to be especially warming!

Warming Spices

Not only can spices all a whole lot of flavour to your meal but they can also boost your metabolism, significantly reduce inflammation and detoxify your body. Add things like turmeric, cayenne, ginger, paprika and chilli.

Fruits and Vegetables

This is a year round thing not just for winter get down to Serotonin Eatery to find out how we’re cooking our fruits and veggies through the colder months. Some traditional medicines recommend eating root vegetables (mostly those that take longer to cook and grow) through the winter months
